NO MORE BAD DAYS!
Have you ever just felt in a funk with a capital F-U-N-K?!?! Maybe you felt stuck, overwhelmed, on the verge of a breakdown, and no matter what you do you can’t seem to snap out of it? Like you’ve done “everything” and nothing is working. What do you do then?I recently went through one of these moods and the people around me (bless their hearts) all gave me similar “answers”...
Just be grateful for what you have.
Just think positive.
Just trust the Universe.
Just keep doing what you’re doing. You’ll see results.
Um really? I feel overwhelmed and like life is falling apart, and your solution is to just (insert some hippie-dippie woo-woo spiritual advice).
Like it’s sooooo freakin' easy to “just be happy”.
I do agree that all of those recommendations are powerful ways to transform your life, but what about when they're not working. What then?
What do you do when practicing gratitude, positive thinking, meditating, the law of attraction & all the other woo woo hippie dippie stuff just isn’t working?
I’ve come up with some ideas...
- Spend some time in nature.
2. Unplug. Forget what anyone else is doing in their lives and just focus on you.
- Walk on the beach barefoot.
- Play. Let your inner kid go wild without holding back!
- Watch the sunset.
- Cancel the to do list and go have some fun instead.
- Call your best friend.
- Let your inner artist
- Go dancing.
- Go on a hike.
- Volunteer.
- Plan a weekend away or a staycay.
- Cry if you need to cry. Let your emotions out.
- Get clear on your values.
- Get support. Hire a life coach. Find a therapist. You don’t have to do this alone.
- Spend time with people who lift you up.
- Remove the naysayers.
- Breathe and sit with the feelings, no matter how uncomfortable.
- Break up the mundane. Add something new into your week/day.
21. And gratitude… I know, I know, I said when “gratitude isn’t working”, but here’s what I’ve learned about gratitude… when you’re “supposed” to be grateful for something that brings you unhappiness, practicing gratitude can seem like a lie. I suggest starting small. Really small. Be grateful for the breath in your lungs, the sun in the sky, the bright vibrant yellow in a sunflower. Just start small.
And remember, you are in control of your life. I know that sometimes it may not feel like it, but you are!
You've got this!
I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.
