Embracing what is = MAGIC!!!

Lately I’ve been on a journey of learning to embrace what is and it’s been pretty magical, so I knew I needed to share it with you so you can bring the same magic into your own life.A few weeks ago I share with you a raw, real and vulnerable blog post about a recent funk I went through.During this post I said,

“When we fight our reality it gives control to everything that’s not working in our lives. When we embrace our reality (even if it doesn’t feel good) it creates space for what is to simply be.

Once I stopped fighting my current situation, spaciousness was created and the desperation for change subsided. I began to feel lighter, happier and at more peace.”

Our darkest moments often bring the biggest breakthroughs and my recent funk has catapulted me into a beautiful, awe-inspiring journey of learning to embrace what is.

Fighting what is (our reality) is like swimming upstream against the current. The more we fight the current the more difficult swimming against it becomes.

This analogy can be applied to life. The more we focus on the negative aspects the worse the situation seems. For instance, the shitty job, the energy-sucking boss, the dirty dishes your spouse left in the sink, the traffic jam, etc.When we stop swimming against the current we float effortlessly downstream. All the energy that was bring used to fight is can be used elsewhere.Fighting is exhausting and doesn't leave room for much else. It creates inner turmoil, conflict and struggle.Once we embrace what is, all the energy we were using to fight is freed up. Spaciousness is created. There's room for growth and new opportunities.The job doesn't seem so bad, the boss can be dealt with, the dirty dishes are no longer a concern, and the traffic jam won't last forever.The shifts that have happened in my own life since I began to embrace what is are truly remarkable. Spaciousness has been created, doors have flung open and new opportunities are arising!Any resistance I felt has subsided, everything feels effortless, and it's been a magical few weeks to say the least.

I can't help but think I'm onto something... embracing what is = magic!!!

How often do we close metaphorical doors without even realizing it because we're so focused on fighting our current situation???

Let's open these doors...

#1: Start with a journaling session and answer the following questions:

  • What are you fighting/struggling against currently in life?
  • What would change if you embraced this struggle, accepted it fully as it is and didn’t try to change it?
  • What would this acceptance create space for?  

#2: Let the feelings move though you.

We all have negative feelings especially when we’re fighting our current situation, but it’s the attachment to these emotions which causes a negative impact on our lives. The goal is to feel the emotions, but not hold onto them. Witness them and let them flow through you without any attachment.

#3: Live fully in the present.

It’s a beautiful delicate balance between desiring change and living fully exactly where you are. Desire for change is a great thing, it’s what keeps us moving forward in life, but if we hold onto this desire too tightly we miss what’s unfolding right in front of us. Desire change, make vision boards, create goals, but them go and enjoy the life that is happening right now. Last, but not least, life is truly a wonderful experience. We all go through rough patches, but nothing lasts forever.
