How to declutter your life: physically, emotionally & energetically

Over the last month I’ve devoted a huge amount of time to decluttering. Emotionally, energetically and physically. I would ask myself, “Is this coming along on my new journey?” and when the answer was no I let it go, regardless of what it was. It didn’t matter if it was a $200 pair of jeans that were too small, mismatched utensils, or a self sabotaging thought. If the answer was no, I let it go. I spent several weeks doing this process. Item by item, room by room, thought by thought.

Decluttering is a powerful process because the physical act of letting go shows the Universe that we are worthy for the new in our lives, and by releasing the old we make room for the new to emerge.

We can’t create new amazing lives if we’re holding onto the past. We can’t find love if we’re holding onto emotional pain. We can’t learn to fly if we’re crawling through sludge. We must do the work and remove the sludge. Emotionally, energetically and physically.

By letting go of what no longer serves us we're sending a clear signal to the Universe saying I am worthy of what I desire.

I am worthy to do fulfilling work that lights me up!I am worth of soul connecting love!I am worthy of living the life I dream!(and YES, YES you are!!!)

Here's what I want you to do:

Get a pen, paper and hard surface to write on so you can take notes. Fold the paper into two sections. The left hand column will be for physical decluttering items and the right hand column will be for the emotional and energetic decluttering items. Start with a walk-through of your home beginning at the entrance. Notice how each area makes you feel. How do you feel when you enter your home? Do any areas stand out as problem areas? Go room by room. Open cupboards, closets, pantries, etc. Also, don’t forget the garage. What are you holding onto? Are you holding onto ratty towels? Old undies? An old wedding dress from your first marriage? If yes, why? Is it a feeling of lack and scarcity?During the walk-through your inner critic will probably emerge, and that’s OK, it’s giving you information about the emotional and energetic items you can declutter. Write any of these thoughts on the right hand column. After the walk-through you should have a (probably large) list of items that need to be decluttered. For the physical items start at the top and ask yourself, “Is this coming along on my new journey?” If the answer is no - LET IT GO. You can donate it to charity, give it to a friend in need, or for clothing items sell it to a used clothing store. When you dive into the closet I suggest taking everything out of your closet and trying everything on, or at least holding up each article of clothing asking yourself the above question. For the energetic & emotional items say the self-sabotaging thought aloud and then say, “Thank you Universe, but I am done with this thought. I have learned my lesson. Thank you.”Before I end this post, I just want to let you know that I REALLY believe that we all deserve to live amazing lives and creating change isn’t easy, but so worth it.

You are worthy AF!

XO, Emily

P.S. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below. Also, let me know how your decluttering project is coming along. P.S.S. HUGE shot out to Denise Duffield-Thomas, creator of Lucky Bitch for the inspiration for my own decluttering process. The question I suggest to ask, "Is this coming along on my new journey?" comes from Denise's manifesting course. If you want to take your manifesting skills to the next level check her out or if you're just looking for some new inspiration she's pretty freakin' rad!
