Begin Your Self-Discovery Journey

Have you ever thought to yourself...

“Who am I?

Why am I here?

And WTF am I supposed to do with my life?”

Yes? Then stick around sister, I want to tell you a story. But first, how about a proper introduction?I’m Emily Atkinson. You can call me Em.You found me and in a way I found you. Trust that. Trust that you are here reading this for a reason.I’m a Life Coach & Spiritual Mentor, Co-Founder of The Revolutionary Woman, and I guide women on the journey home to themselves. But I didn’t always live life this way, aligned with my calling and true self. 10 years ago I was stuck in the nine to five grind with no sense of self or purpose. I was plagued with a deep discontent and a longing to find my way...My story isn’t different than yours. I did everything I was “supposed” to by society's standards - went to college, landed a job in my chosen profession, devoted years to working my way up the professional ladder, made a good salary, had a savings account, and took two weeks of vacation a year. I had everything I was “supposed to” and I was f-ing miserable. (can you relate?)I wasn’t living. I was merely existing; going through the motions as a piece of my soul died daily.

I couldn’t shake this feeling, this knowing deep down that I was meant for more. And then I began to hear the whisper. You know that little voice within calling you out and demanding something changes.

Of course I would ignore her.

What was this voice?

Was I going crazy?

How could I be meant for more?

I worked my ass off to get where I am, wasn’t this supposed to be enough?

The more I would ignore the voice, the louder she would become. Eventually the voice became so loud that I had no choice then to step out of my comfort zone and begin making changes. Over the last 10 years that voice has guided me into making some of the biggest and boldest decisions of my life. She has guided me into becoming the woman I somehow I always knew I was destined to become.

I now know the unhappiness that plagued me for years was rooted in not knowing who I was.

The Vedic traditions of ancient India believe the main cause of suffering which leads to unhappiness is not knowing your true identity. The Buddhist call this a case of the mistaken identity. In Shamanic traditions it’s known as soul retrieval.

Basically, not knowing who you are is a real thing and you are not alone on your journey to finding yourself.

There’s a whole generation of seekers living mistaken and false identities. Did you know that 70% of Americans in the workplace are unhappy in their professions? That’s 7 in 10 people that go to work everyday living a dimmed down version of themselves! It’s a shockingly high number but not surprising. Everywhere we look there’s someone telling us how to live our lives. We’re influenced by our parents, peers, social media, television, etc. We think the shoulds of society are more important than our own desires. We dim down who we truly are to “fit in” with the masses. We settle for the mundane rat race, chose the paycheck over passion, and conform to the norm. We’re chasing an American Dream. The problem is it’s not our dream, but the larger problem is we’ve lost touch with who we really are and what WE truly want.
